2008 Ball Proceeds Purchase Needed Equipment

Members of the 2008 Cameron Hospital Benefit Ball Committee presented a check for $34,000 to the Laboratory at Cameron Memorial Community Hospital to be used toward the purchase of a blood culture analyzer for the hospital’s laboratory department. Matching funds of $16,000 were added from the Cameron Hospital Foundation for a total donation of $50,000 from this year’s event.

2008 Cameron Ball general chairs Jamie and Barry Trine and co-chairs Susan and Dr. Dean Mattox II presented the ball proceeds to Cameron’s laboratory director Claudia Bergdoll and hospital president and CEO Greg Burns.

In addition to the lab’s blood culture analyzer, the proceeds from the 2008 Ball will also allow the hospital to purchase two trauma stretchers for the emergency department, two automated blood pressure machines for cardiac rehabilitation, and a fluid therapy machine for the hospital’s occupational therapy service.

Over the 24 years the ball has been held, more than $500,000 has been raised for the purchase of needed hospital equipment. This year’s gift was the second largest in the history of the Benefit Ball.

The 2009 Cameron Benefit Ball, the 25th Anniversary “Silver Ball,” will be held Saturday, December 5, at the Potawatomi Inn, Angola.
