Home Health Care It has been said that home is where the heart is, but living at home independently may be difficult for individuals experiencing health problems. Health care in the home allows patients to recuperate from an illness, injury or surgery in the comfort and privacy of their own home, under the direction of their personal physician. Home care is less costly than hospitalization and can be a welcome alternative to nursing home placement. Even when a nursing home stay is necessary, home health care can help a patient return home sooner. Hospice Care Cameron's Medicare and Medicaid-Certified Hospice program works in conjunction with Home Health Care providing compassionate medical and personal care, social services, and support to terminally ill patients and their families. Hospice nurses assist in the management of pain and other physical symptoms for the patient while providing training and support for the family caregiver. Volunteers provide transportation, respite care and family support. In addition, a Hospice Fund is available to help with services and supplies needed when financial resources are inadequate.
