Orthopedic doctors have advanced knowledge and training beyond your primary care doctor and can help you get back on track to living comfortably and enjoyably.

Limited range of motion is where a body part or joint can’t move through its regular range of motion.

Chronic joint pain is a form of infection or inflammation of one or more joints, resulting in limited movement, swelling, pain, and stiffness. Many conditions can cause chronic joint pain.

An orthopedic specialist can evaluate chronic joint and bone pain, especially in places like your knee, neck, back, or elbows.

You experience standing or walking instability. You might feel wobbly or shaky when you perform basic functions like walking and standing.

This is where it is hard to perform daily tasks, such as bending over to pick an object up off the floor, reaching to put something in the cabinet, or even simply going for a walk or getting into bed.

Hand, wrist, and shoulder injuries may include fractures, sprains, torn ligaments, trigger finger, and tendonitis. Gout and arthritis can also affect the wrist and hand, along with cubital tunnel syndrome, carpal tunnel syndrome, and other nerve disorders.

Knee issues and knee pain may include joint replacements, meniscus tears, and ACL reconstruction.

There may be dislocations and fractures, bursitis, arthritis, and tendonitis. Strains and sprains can occur. Diabetic foot problems, plantar fasciitis, and achilles tendonitis are foot conditions and overuse.

Acute injuries may include muscle strains, ankle sprains, fractures, and shoulder and knee injuries. Overuse injuries can include stress fractures and rotator cuff injuries.

A compression fracture is a vertebrae break or type of fracture. It’s often due to osteoporosis (loss of bone mass) occurring with aging. A cough, fall, or lifting a heavy item can lead to a fracture of your back bones.

A broken bone, also referred to as a fracture, is where you have a break that goes through all or part of your bone. Things like overuse, trauma and diseases that cause the bones to weaken can cause broken bones.

A dislocation is a painful joint injury that can immobilize and deform your joint temporarily.

A stress fracture is a small crack in your bone. It’s most often in the weight-bearing bones of your foot and lower leg. A stress fracture is often caused by overuse and repetitive force, like from repeatedly running long distance or jumping up and down.

A torn rotator cuff is a common shoulder injury that occurs when the muscles and tendons of the shoulder become damaged. It can be caused by activities such as overhead reaching, repetitive lifting, or falling on an outstretched arm. This type of injury often results in pain, weakness, and a limited range of motion in the shoulder joint.

Osteoarthritis is a progressive joint disease that deteriorates the cartilage of joints, making it the most common form of arthritis. With age comes the degeneration of protective cushioning between bones, resulting in excruciating pain and swelling in affected areas. Furthermore, this impedes mobility leaving patients with an increasingly stiffer joint as time goes on; thus limiting their range of motion over time.

Types of Orthopedic Services & Care

Orthopedic services available at our Northwest Indiana orthopedic hospital include:

Thorough exams and diagnostics

Our providers will conduct a full exam and run the necessary tests to determine a diagnosis.

Fracture treatment

The doctor will come up with a treatment plan to repair any fractures; often this will be in the form of casts or splints.

Soft tissue injuries treatment

Soft tissue injuries often respond to the R.I.C.E. method which is rest, ice, compression and elevation.

Osteoarthritis treatments

The doctor will work with you to develop a treatment plan for osteoarthritis. This treatment plan could include therapy, medication, or orthopedic surgery. Surgery isn’t always required for every type of orthopedic condition.

Non-surgical orthopedic treatments

Our orthopedic team here at Cameron Medical Group provides a wide range of non-surgical treatments to treat skeletal pain, muscle pain and lack of mobility effectively. Some orthopedic non-surgical treatments might include topical or oral medications, physical therapy, steroid injections, and rehabilitation services. Treatments like these can strengthen joints and muscles, restore proper movement, and increase range of motion without the need for surgery.

Total joint replacements

This is a surgical procedure where the orthopedic surgeon removes and replaces parts of a damaged or arthritic joint with a plastic, metal or ceramic device known as a prosthesis.

Reconstructive surgery

Reconstructive surgery focuses on musculoskeletal system surgical reconstruction or surgical reconstruction of the ligaments, bones, tendons, joints, and related structures.

We’ll help you make the decision on the optimal care path for your orthopedic condition to get you back on your feet and achieve your personal health goals.
